Ten lessons are offered in this section to help you learn the many alternatives and varieties available to you in photography. Whether you are using a technique with the camera, computer or in the darkroom, you will see the many options to assist you in your creative outcome.
The lessons in this section cover a variety of special techniques. Some are created in the camera and some are produced in the darkroom. You should have a good working knowledge of your camera and darkroom procedure to complete these projects.
Sample images are included with each lesson to show you the effects that you should expect to get upon completion. Effects can vary depending on the films and chemistry you use. These lessons will give you an avenue to become more creative in your approach to photography. Here is where we start to break the rules and manipulate images.
The zoom technique seen in Fig 1 to the right is easily created using a zoom lens with minimum zoom capabilities. It adds a feeling of, and excitement to, any image with foreground to background movement.
Panning gives a similar effect except this adds movement side to side.
In this section you will learn how to make your own pinhole camera. Detailed photos are included of a working pinhole camera. See Fig. 2
Using a flash either on your camera or off, you can punch in light in selected areas in conjunction with time exposures, creating very unusual, somewhat mystical looking images.
Using the cross color processing technique, you will create a body of work by mixing chemistry effects. These can be processed at any professional lab.
Don't forget with each lesson the
button allows you to get assistance. This feature alone is worth 10 times the value you are paying for the lessons.
